The Madison Journal of

Literary Criticism (MJLC)

The MJLC is an undergraduate-led, internationally recognized publication based at UW-Madison. As the one of two Graphic Design and Layout Editors, I strove to highlight the work of the artists and writers who submitted to the magazine each semester. I worked within Adobe Creative Cloud applications to layout each piece in a way that matched the tone of the magazine and individual pieces themselves with my fellow editors. While I find collaboration and feedback important to my creative process, working as a co-layout editor can sometimes create a challenge in ensuring cohesive style in the magazine overall. It requires a lot of discussion and notes, but I found it incredibly satisfying to accomplish. Below are some of the spreads I am proudest to have designed within past MJLC editions. Along with my role as a Graphic Design & Layout Editor of the magazine itself, my MJLC responsibilities also included scheduling and designing all social media communications and promotional materials (online & for print). I worked closely with our Outreach Coordinator to curate our social media presence to encourage submissions, recruit members, produce engagingly fun content, and more. Below are a few of my favorite grid posts I have created.
